Blindfold, 35”/42”, oil on canvas, 2007

This painting represents the series Every Body Knows, which is informed by my personal history of growing up in the West Bank in Israel, and questions the border between victimizing and victimhood. The series includes 14 paintings, and consists of four “families”: Blindfold, Vomiters, Middays and Waiters. The images of these characters steam from events at the basis of the political atmosphere in Israel. I see this work as creating a visual echo of public discourses that weave a camouflage around such events.
